Syracuse – The Committee to Elect Sam Roberts is pleased to receive the endorsement from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW), Local One.
Candidate Roberts will publicly acknowledge this endorsement on the steps of the Onondaga County Court House, 421 Montgomery Street (across from Columbus Circle), Thursday, May 13th at 11:00 am.
UFCW represents 24,000 members in Upstate New York, and according to its president, Frank C. DeRiso, the union believes Mr. Roberts’ candidacy will be beneficial to the community as well as the labor movement.
Sam Roberts is a retired union member of the United Auto Workers (UAW), having served as an executive board member and recording secretary during his 35 year membership.
Mr. Roberts, a Democrat, seeks to fill the position of 119th New York State Assembly Member, which is being vacated by retiring Assemblywoman, Joan Christensen (D). He has previously served five (5) terms (a total of 10 years) as Onondaga County Legislator in the 19th District.
Mr. Roberts looks forward to receiving additional endorsements from other unions and organizations that are familiar with the work he has done for the community over many decades.
